Govinda Breaks Silence on Divorce Rumors, Focuses on Upcoming Films

Actor Govinda responded on Tuesday to ongoing speculation about his divorce from Sunita Ahuja.

Reports have been circulating that the couple, married for 37 years, is heading for separation. In an interview with Times of India, the 61-year-old actor avoided addressing the divorce rumors directly and instead focused on discussing his upcoming film projects.

When questioned about the reports, he said, “There are only business talks going… I am in the process of starting my films.”

According to reports, Sunita Ahuja had issued a ‘separation notice’ to Govinda a few months ago, but no further progress has been made on that front.

Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, confirmed that the couple has been dealing with personal challenges due to statements made in the media.

“There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by certain members of the family. There is nothing more to it and Govinda is in the process of starting a film for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to resolve it,” he explained.

She stated, “I have told him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He doesn’t go on holidays. I am a person who wants to go out with her husband and eat pani-puri on the streets.”

She also lamented his absence, saying, “He spent too much time working. I don’t recall a single instance when we both went out to watch a movie.”

Lawyer’s Statement Clarifies the Situation

A day after the divorce rumors spread, Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, spoke exclusively to India Today, stating that the couple’s marriage is still strong. He confirmed that Sunita had filed for divorce around six months ago, but they had since reconciled.

“We also traveled to Nepal during the New Year and performed puja together at Pashupati Nath Mandir. Everything is fine between them now. Such things keep happening between couples, but they are going strong and will always be together,” Bindal reassured.

Additionally, Bindal refuted claims that Govinda and Sunita were living in separate residences.

He explained that the actor had purchased a bungalow for official purposes after becoming an MP, which is located opposite their long-time apartment.

He clarified that while Govinda occasionally spends nights at the bungalow due to meetings, the couple continues to live together.

Bindal dismissed the rumors as misinterpretations of Sunita’s remarks in various interviews and podcasts.

“Like when she said ‘Mujhe Govinda jaisa pati nahi chahiye’ (I don’t want Govinda as my husband in my next birth), she also added that she wanted a son like him. Or when she mentioned he was with his Valentine, she meant he was working.”

“It is unfortunate that people are only talking negatively about them when the couple is together, and I can assure that they will always be. No divorce is going to happen,” he affirmed.

She continued, “Karega na toh itni buri tarah, sorry for my language, itna buri tarah hta hai, itni buri jagah huga na, nikalte-nikalte 2 saal lag jaayenge, lekin vo s**li nikalegi nahi. Ap life se nikal jaoge, lekin nikalti nahi hai vo item.”
