Renowned playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar was hospitalized on March 2 after being found unconscious at her Nizampet residence in Hyderabad.
Reports suggest that she allegedly consumed sleeping pills. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, where she remains stable and under ventilator support.

The incident came to light when the apartment security grew suspicious after Kalpana did not open her door for two days.
Concerned neighbors informed the police, who then intervened and followed due procedures. The exact reason for her alleged suicide attempt remains unknown.

At the time of the incident, Kalpana’s husband was in Chennai. Upon receiving the news, he promptly returned to Hyderabad.

Daughter’s Clarification on the Incident
Following Kalpana’s hospitalization, reports surfaced that a dispute with her elder daughter may have led to the alleged suicide attempt. However, her daughter dismissed these claims.
Addressing the media, she stated, “My mother has no issues. She is perfectly fine, happy, and healthy. She is a singer, and she is also pursuing her PhD and LLB, which led to insomnia. To treat her insomnia, she took the tablets prescribed by her doctor. Due to stress, there was a slight drug overdose. Please do not manipulate or misinterpret any news.”
She further added, “My mother is fine, and both my parents are perfectly happy. Everyone in my family is doing well. She will be back soon. This was not a suicide attempt, it was just a slight overdose of insomnia tablets. Please do not spread or distort any misinformation.”
Police Investigation and Medical Updates
According to police reports, Kalpana consumed the medication on March 4. When she failed to respond to knocks on her door, apartment security and residents alerted authorities.
Upon forced entry, police found her unconscious in her apartment and immediately transported her to Holistic Hospital for emergency treatment.
