Mammootty’s Team Dismisses Cancer Rumors, Confirms Actor Is on Vacation and Fasting for Ramzan

Recent rumors about Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s health have been officially dismissed by his team. Speculation had been circulating that the 73-year-old actor was diagnosed with cancer and was stepping away from acting.
However, his team has clarified that the news is false, confirming that Mammootty is in good health and is currently on vacation for Ramzan fasting.
A statement from his team read, “It is fake news. He is on vacation because he is fasting for Ramzan. He is on a break from his shoot schedule as well because of that. In fact, after the break, he will go back to shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s film with Mohanlal.”
Mammootty to Resume Shooting After Ramzan
Mammootty’s team reassured fans that the actor will soon return to work after his Ramzan break. He is set to resume filming Mahesh Narayanan’s new project alongside Mohanlal.
This film marks the first collaboration between Mammootty and Mohanlal in over a decade, raising anticipation among fans.
The movie, tentatively titled MMMN (Mammootty, Mohanlal, Mahesh Narayanan), began filming in Sri Lanka and features a star-studded cast, including Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Darshana Rajendran.
The film is expected to be one of the biggest releases in the Malayalam film industry.
Mammootty’s Upcoming Projects
Mammootty recently shared a new poster for his upcoming film, Bazooka, an action thriller directed by Deeno Dennis.
Initially announced in 2023, the film faced delays due to production issues but is now set for release on April 10, 2025. Alongside Mammootty, Bazooka stars Gautham Vasudev Menon, Babu Antony, Iswarya Menon, Neeta Pillai, and Gayathri Iyer.
Mammootty was last seen in Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, an investigative comedy directed by Gautham Menon.
Released on January 23, the film received mixed reviews, but Mammootty’s performance was widely appreciated. He played Dominic, a former police officer turned detective, who gets drawn into a conspiracy after attempting to find the owner of a lost purse.
The movie also starred Gokul Suresh, Lena, Siddique, Vijay Babu, and Viji Venkatesh.

The Hindustan Times reviewed Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, praising Mammootty’s performance but criticizing the film’s slow pace and some poorly executed scenes.
The review noted, “The film’s pace is extremely slow and tests your patience in some parts, like the unnecessary songs or the badly choreographed fights, for instance. You wish the director would just get on with the investigation.”
