Katy Perry and All-Female Crew Make History on Blue Origin Spaceflight

Pop star Katy Perry made her first social media post after returning from space on Monday. Expressing her happiness, she seemed to signal her relief and gratitude for being back home.
Perry was among a group of civilians who boarded Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft for a brief journey to space, lasting 11 minutes.
On Tuesday, she took to X, writing, “There’s no place like home (red heart and Earth emoji) (sic).”
Making History with an All-Female Crew
Perry, alongside five other women, took part in a groundbreaking moment in space tourism. They formed the first all-female space crew in over six decades.
The group launched aboard Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission, highlighting a significant milestone in civilian space travel.
The New Shepard rocket carried Perry along with Lauren Sanchez, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, journalist Gayle King, and former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe.
Their flight reached an altitude of over 65 miles (105 kilometers) above Earth, crossing the boundary of space before safely returning.
An Emotional and Transformative Journey
During the brief suborbital flight, Katy Perry took in more than just the views. She sang “What a Wonderful World” while floating in microgravity, a moment she said deeply moved her.
Reflecting on the experience after landing, Perry shared that her space journey brought profound emotional insights.
“I feel super connected to love,” she said in an interview that aired on Blue Origin’s webcast. “I think this experience has shown me you never know how much love is inside of you — how much love you have to give and how loved you are — until the day of launch,” she added.
A Symbolic Tribute to Her Daughter and Earth
In her interview with Fox Sports’ Charissa Thompson, Perry held up a daisy — a flower deeply symbolic to her. Her daughter with actor Orlando Bloom is named Daisy, but the flower held additional meaning for the singer.
“Daisies are common flowers, but they grow through any condition,” Perry explained. “They grow through cement. They grow through cracks. They grow through walls. They are resilient; powerful. They are strong. They’re everywhere.”
To Perry, daisies are reminders of both the Earth’s beauty and its resilience. She described them as symbols of “the beautiful magic that is everywhere, all around us, even in a simple daisy.”
Carrying the flower aboard NS-31 served as a tribute to her daughter and the planet — a message to “appreciate it and remember it, take care of it and protect it,” she said.
A Moment Beyond Fame
Perry emphasized that her flight wasn’t about fame or music, but something larger. She wanted the journey to represent something collective and meaningful.
“It’s not about me; it’s not about singing my songs. It’s about a collective energy in there,” she told Thompson.
“It’s about us. It’s about making space for future women and taking up space and belonging. And it’s about this wonderful world that we see right out there and appreciating it. This is all for the benefit of Earth.”
A Private Tour Reveal and a Touch of Fate
Perry revealed that she also shared the set list for her upcoming tour during the spaceflight. While footage from the spacecraft has not yet been released, crewmate Gayle King confirmed that Perry sang during the trip.
Reflecting on how she made the decision to join the flight, Perry spoke of a conversation with her “angels,” which gave her a sense of divine guidance.
“And they’re like, ‘Well, here’s the feather [Blue Origin’s symbol], which is what your mother calls you. And if that’s not enough, the capsule is named Tortoise, which is the second nickname that your mother calls you,’” she said. “I’m like, ‘OK, I’m going, I’m going — I got the message, and I’m going to get the message.’”
A 10/10 Experience
The spaceflight, she said, was unforgettable. “Ten out of 10 — that’s my review,” she declared. She described the journey as “second to being a mom,” underscoring the emotional weight of the experience.
Her daughter Daisy and partner Orlando Bloom were present for the launch, making the moment even more meaningful. Watching Perry ascend into space added a personal, touching dimension to an already historic event.
As Perry shared her reflections and emotions, it was clear that the flight had left a lasting impact — both on her and on those who followed the moment from Earth.
