Vincy Aloshious Opens Up About Disturbing On-Set Experience, Vows Not to Work with Drug-Using Co-Stars

Malayalam actress Vincy Aloshious recently shared a troubling experience from a film set, revealing that a co-star, allegedly under the influence of drugs, behaved inappropriately.

Though she did not name the actor, she declared that she would no longer act alongside drug-using colleagues.

Her statement was made during the 67th operational year of KCYM Ernakulam-Angamaly Major Archdiocese at Pallippuram Church, where she said, “If I am aware that someone is using drugs, I will not act in any film with them.”

This remark led to widespread discussion online. In response, Vincy posted a video further clarifying her decision.

Without naming the actor or the film, she said, “When I was part of a film, I had an experience with the main actor. He used drugs and behaved in a way that was completely inappropriate, making it very difficult to continue working with him.”

Allegations of On-Set Misconduct

Vincy detailed the uncomfortable encounter in the video, stating that the co-actor made an unsettling remark when she had a costume issue.

“When there was an issue with my dress, I want to get it fixed. He also wanted to come with me, saying, ‘I can help get it ready.’ This was said in front of everyone and it made the situation very uncomfortable,” she explained.

She also alleged that a suspicious white substance came out of the actor’s mouth during a scene rehearsal.

“During a scene practice, something white spilled from his mouth onto the table. It was very evident that he was using drugs on set, which created a nuisance for everyone around,” she said.

Vincy emphasized that while drug use in personal life is an individual’s choice, allowing it to affect the professional environment is unacceptable.

Firm Stand on Professional Ethics

Vincy stood by her decision, saying, “I don’t want to work like that. I don’t want to work with someone who isn’t conscious of the impact their actions have on others. This is a decision based on my personal experience and I stand by it.”

She acknowledged that taking such a stance might affect her film career. “Maybe because of this decision, I might not get many opportunities in films going forward. But I want to say it openly: ‘If I am aware that someone is using drugs, I will not act in any film with them.’”

Formal Complaint Against Shine Tom Chacko

Shortly after her public statement, Vincy filed a formal complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber, naming actor Shine Tom Chacko and accusing him of inappropriate behaviour during the filming of Soothravakyam.

Saji Nanthyatt, general secretary of the Kerala Film Chamber, confirmed that action would be taken through proper procedure.

Additionally, Vincy reached out to the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Jayan Cherthala, convenor of AMMA’s ad hoc committee, expressed solidarity with her and assured complete support.

Social Media Post Details Harassment

In another Instagram video, Vincy elaborated that both she and a female colleague faced discomfort due to the co-actor’s behaviour.

“He said, ‘I’ll fix it for you,’ in front of the crew when I had an issue with my costume. It was humiliating,” she shared.

She further alleged that the co-actor spat out a white powder-like substance during a rehearsal, reinforcing her suspicion of drug use on set. Her declaration at the anti-drug awareness programme stemmed directly from these experiences.

Drug Raid Brings More Scrutiny on Chacko

In a related development, Shine Tom Chacko came under fresh scrutiny when he was seen fleeing a hotel in Kochi during a raid by the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF). The hotel was under watch following a tip-off about drug use.

CCTV footage reportedly captured Chacko and another person leaving the hotel in haste. However, no drugs were found during the search, and no legal case was registered.

“We’ve confirmed that one of the persons who ran out was Shine Tom Chacko. But no case was taken as we couldn’t recover any substance,” ACP Narcotic Cell Abdul Salam K A told TNIE.

Broader Drug Abuse Allegations in the Industry

Chacko’s legal history includes a 2015 drug case from which he was acquitted on April 14 by the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court, citing police procedural lapses.

Meanwhile, actor Sreenath Bhasi also made headlines by withdrawing his anticipatory bail plea in connection with a cannabis case.

It was later clarified that he was not under direct investigation, even though the arrested woman had claimed she supplied drugs to many Malayalam film actors.
