Cricketer Rinku Singh Gets Engaged to Youngest SP MP Priya Saroj in Private Ceremony

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh recently got engaged to Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of Parliament Priya Saroj during a private function on Sunday.
The ceremony took place at a hotel in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, drawing the presence of several political and cricketing dignitaries.
Over 300 guests attended the event, including SP president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav.
Rinku, a key player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Priya Saroj were also captured dancing together in videos that went viral across social media platforms.
Priya Saroj: A Rising Political Star
Born on November 23, 1998, in Varanasi, Priya Saroj is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a three-time MP and current SP MLA. She holds a law degree from Amity University, Noida, and has practiced at the Supreme Court of India.
Before that, she earned her BA from Delhi University after finishing school at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi.
Entering politics in 2024, she won the Machhlishahr seat by defeating senior BJP leader BP Saroj by over 35,000 votes.
At 25, she is among the youngest Members of Parliament and is part of the parliamentary committee on social justice and empowerment. Her political journey began gaining attention during her father’s 2022 Assembly election campaign.
Dignitaries from Politics and Cricket Attend
The engagement event saw a confluence of prominent names. Senior SP leaders including Jaya Bachchan, Dimple Yadav, and Iqra Hasan were present, alongside Congress leader Rajeev Shukla and veteran politician Ram Gopal Yadav.
The cricket fraternity was also represented by former players Piyush Chawla and Praveen Kumar, and UP Ranji captain Aryan Juyal.
Speaking at the ceremony, Akhilesh Yadav remarked, “Politics and cricket are two very different fields. But when two people have similar thoughts and behaviours, the biggest thing is that both families are very happy. I congratulate both families.”
A Wedding in Varanasi and a Viral Celebration
According to reports, the wedding will be held on November 18 at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi. Guests from cricket, Bollywood, business, and politics are expected to attend the function.
The alliance was arranged after both families met in Aligarh and mutually agreed upon the engagement.
Rinku, who is 27 years old, has represented India in two ODIs and 33 T20Is. His engagement to Priya was confirmed by her father, Tufani Saroj, who said, “Rinku and Priya have known each other for some time.
They were introduced through Priya’s friend’s father, who is a cricketer himself. With the blessings of both families, they have decided to get married.”
Photos and videos from the ceremony, held at the Centrum Hotel in Lucknow, showcased a traditional celebration. Rinku gifted Priya a specially designed ring worth Rs 2.5 lakh, sourced from Mumbai, during the ring ceremony.
Priya Saroj’s Modest Financial Background
Despite belonging to a politically influential family, Priya Saroj’s election affidavit revealed a modest financial profile. She declared assets worth Rs 11.26 lakh, which includes Rs 75,000 in cash, Rs 8,719 in her Canara Bank account, and Rs 10.10 lakh in a Union Bank account.
She holds no investments in bonds, mutual funds, LIC policies, or the stock market. Additionally, Priya does not own any land, property, or vehicles. However, she possesses five grams of gold, valued at approximately Rs 32,000.
Her simple financial disclosures stand in contrast to many of her political peers, reflecting a grounded personal lifestyle despite her rising public stature.
Her father, Tufani Saroj, though a seasoned politician, has also maintained a relatively low-key public image.
A Power Couple in the Making
The engagement of Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj marks the union of two rising figures from distinct spheres—sports and politics.
With both individuals earning recognition in their respective fields, the upcoming wedding is expected to be a grand affair bringing together India’s cricketing icons and political leaders.
As the couple prepares for their November wedding, social media continues to buzz with images and videos from the event, portraying a festive beginning to their journey together.
