Contrary to recent speculation, Tiger vs Pathaan has not been shelved. While fans grew anxious about the film’s future, updated reports confirm that the much-anticipated crossover between Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Salman Khan’s Tiger remains in active development.

YRF Restructures Spy Universe Vision

Yash Raj Films (YRF) is undergoing a major creative overhaul of its Spy Universe. Producer Aditya Chopra is reportedly bringing in fresh talent to shape the upcoming chapter of the franchise.

As reported by PeepingMoon.com, Aditya Chopra is seeking new voices and perspectives to revamp the storytelling methods within the universe.

A source shared with the outlet, “Aditya believes the Spy Universe films are veering toward repetition and need a revitalized approach to storytelling and presentation. So he is now reevaluating its roadmap and making significant changes to future plans.”

These changes are not aimed at shelving major projects like Tiger vs Pathaan but rather to reimagine them through innovative storytelling and a fresh creative path, avoiding the fatigue of formulaic storytelling.

War 2 and Alpha On Schedule, Pathaan 2 in Progress

Despite the restructuring, some projects continue to proceed on schedule. War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, is set to release on August 14, 2025. Meanwhile, Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, will hit theatres on December 25, 2025.

Pathaan 2, reuniting Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, is currently in development. However, the film’s release timeline could be adjusted to accommodate the new creative strategies.

YRF is also expanding its Spy Universe with new characters and storylines. Actor Vicky Kaushal has reportedly been approached for a standalone spy film, though discussions are still in early stages.

Rumors of Tiger vs Pathaan being shelved were sparked by Salman Khan’s earlier statement suggesting that the film was “not happening” at the moment. This led to widespread speculation that the project had been cancelled.

However, NDTV has since reported exclusively that these claims are “false.” According to industry insiders, the film has not been shelved. PeepingMoon, which initially reported the cancellation, has also removed the article from its platform.

Spy Universe Timeline and Origins

YRF’s Spy Universe began with Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, where Salman Khan first portrayed RAW agent Avinash Singh Rathore, known as Tiger, opposite Katrina Kaif. He reprised the role in Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Tiger 3 (2023).

Shah Rukh Khan entered the universe with the 2023 blockbuster Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, which also featured a special cameo by Salman Khan. The universe also includes War (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff.
