Salman Khan Opens Up on Health, Marriage, and Life on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ Premiere

Salman Khan recently made an appearance on the new season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, where he addressed rumours about his health. The actor looked fit but shared that he continues to deal with multiple serious medical conditions.

Salman Talks About Marriage and Health Struggles

In a conversation with Kapil Sharma, Salman responded to a question about marriage by joking about the risks involved, especially concerning finances. He pointed out how difficult it would be to start over at his age if a divorce led to the loss of half his wealth.

“Hum ye jo daily ki haddiyan tudwa rahe hain, pasliyan toot gai, trigeminal neuralgia ke sath kaam kar rahe hain, aneurysm hai brain mein uske bawajood kaam kar rahe hain. AV malformation hai, uske bawajood chal rahe hain,” Salman said.

The actor explained that he is working despite serious health issues, including fractured ribs, trigeminal neuralgia, a brain aneurysm, and AV malformation.

“All of this is going on in my life. Aur jahan unka mood satka, woh aadha humara leke chala gaya. Ye younger age mein hota toh theek tha, phirse kama lete. Ab wapis se…” he added, highlighting how difficult it would be to rebuild his fortune now compared to when he was younger.

Trigeminal Neuralgia: The “Suicide Disease”

Salman Khan first revealed his health issues back in 2017 at a Tubelight promotional event in Dubai. He shared that he suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, often called the “suicide disease” because of the extreme pain it causes.

The condition affects the trigeminal nerve, leading to sudden, stabbing pain in the face. Even basic activities like chewing, speaking, or brushing teeth can trigger severe discomfort.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that causes intense facial pain.

The disorder is rare, affecting around 4 to 13 people per 100,000 annually, with women more likely to be affected than men. It is also more common after the age of 50.

Media reports suggest Salman was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia in 2007 while filming Partner. He later underwent nerve surgery in the United States in 2011. Despite multiple surgeries, the condition remains chronic and may recur.

Brain Aneurysm and AV Malformation

On the show, Salman also revealed he is dealing with a brain aneurysm and an arteriovenous malformation (AVM).

According to Dr Praveen Gupta, chairman of Marengo Asia International Institute of Neuro & Spine (MAIINS), a brain aneurysm occurs when a weak spot in an artery wall bulges out, forming a balloon-like structure that may rupture and lead to a brain hemorrhage.

Johns Hopkins Medicine explains that AVM is a rare condition where arteries and veins are abnormally connected, bypassing the capillary system. This disrupts oxygen delivery to brain tissues and increases the risk of rupture.

AVM affects fewer than 1 in 10,000 people. Symptoms can include headaches, seizures, or neurological problems, though many cases go undiagnosed until a rupture happens.

Working Through the Pain and Challenges

Despite these serious conditions, Salman Khan continues to work actively. His appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show revealed how he relies on a strong support system and medical care to manage his health while staying committed to his work.

The actor shared how routine actions like eating or speaking could trigger unbearable pain, describing it as feeling like “a thousand needles piercing the face all at once.”

Though he reported improvement after multiple surgeries, he admitted the condition is chronic and can return at any time.

Salman on Staying Single and Avoiding Marriage

During his chat with Kapil Sharma, Salman also spoke candidly about his single status.

When asked if there was someone special in his life, the actor responded that he has no one in his life currently and prefers not to make the sacrifices that come with being in a relationship.

Salman humorously pointed out that divorces often happen over trivial matters, and the financial impact of a separation could be significant.

He remarked that he had worked hard to build his fortune and would not want to lose half of it, especially considering the effort it would take to earn it all over again at this stage of life.
