Toni Kroos Hints at Future Role with Real Madrid Beyond Legends Matches
Toni Kroos remains very much alive in the hearts of Real Madrid supporters, especially after his recent statements that have fueled hopes of seeing him associated with the club once again.
Just weeks ago, the former German midfielder was seen in action during a friendly against Borussia Dortmund, showing that he is still physically fit.
For many fans, it is a dream that the former Bayern Munich player might one day return to the field, possibly under Xabi Alonso, should he become the Real Madrid manager.
Open to Future Possibilities with the Club
In his latest remarks from Germany, Kroos spoke about his bond with Real Madrid and the possibility of contributing to the club again in the future.
“Given my closeness to Real Madrid and my relationship with them, I would never rule out doing something for the club at some point in the future,” he stated.
Only a year has passed since Kroos retired from professional football in the spring of 2024, a decision that saddened fans and teammates in the Spanish capital. Now, for the first time, the German star acknowledges he is considering returning to the club, though the exact role remains to be seen.
Roles Kroos Could Take at Real Madrid
The opportunities within the Real Madrid environment are plentiful. Kroos could serve as a global ambassador, representing the club worldwide, or take up a role as a coach within the youth academy.
It is worth noting that he already operates his own football academy in Madrid, a project that has connected him to young players even before he officially retired from the sport.
Kroos had always made it clear that his link with Real Madrid would not end with his retirement from professional football.
His recent presence at the farewells of Luka Modrić and Carlo Ancelotti further demonstrated this connection. He revealed his personal reasons for attending, saying,
“When I learned of Modric’s decision to leave, along with Carlo’s, under whose orders I played for years, I wanted to be with him to show him respect for what he achieved during the years we spent together. It was necessary to be by his side and support him at that moment.”
Madrid is Home for Kroos
Kroos’s deep affection for Madrid is no secret. During various recognitions he received in the Spanish capital in recent days, he openly expressed his love for the city and the club.
“When we arrived in 2014, we were received with open arms. This is very important for what happens later on the field because if you feel welcome, it is always easier to play well on the field,” he explained.
Interestingly, when Kroos and his family moved to Madrid, the plan was initially to return to Germany after a few years. They even began building a house there. However, over the years, Madrid became home.
“Every year we have felt better here and that house is still free. The plan is that we stay here to live. Here I have found a home, in addition to the club of my life,” he shared.
Fans Hope for His Return in a New Role
Toni Kroos may have hung up his boots, but his relationship with Real Madrid and its fans remains as strong as ever.
Whether as a mentor to young talents, an official ambassador, or in another capacity, many believe it is only a matter of time before he officially reenters the Real Madrid family.
For now, Kroos has left the door open to possibilities, while supporters continue to dream of seeing one of their modern legends wearing the Real Madrid badge once more — in whatever role the future holds.
