Astronomer CEO Andy Byron Faces Heat Over Alleged “Kiss Cam” Scandal at Coldplay Concert

Astronomer CEO Andy Byron Faces Heat Over Alleged “Kiss Cam” Scandal at Coldplay Concert

A recent Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston took an unexpected turn when Andy Byron, CEO of data software startup Astronomer, was caught on the venue’s kiss cam with Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer.

The brief moment quickly gained traction online, igniting both curiosity and speculation.

During the live show, the kiss cam focused on Byron and Cabot, who appeared affectionate while seated together. Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin, unaware of their identities, remarked on the couple, saying, “Oh look at these two.”

As the audience laughed, Byron quickly ducked behind a barrier and Cabot covered her face, seemingly embarrassed. Martin jokingly added, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”

Who Is Andy Byron?

Andy Byron has led Astronomer since July 2023. The New York-based software company is best known for its Astro platform, which supports enterprise-level data pipeline management using Apache Airflow.

Astronomer aims to help companies increase data reliability and streamline data workflows.

Before joining Astronomer, Byron held leadership roles in enterprise software and data-focused companies. He has frequently posted updates on LinkedIn about the company’s events and product developments.

Byron resides in New York with his wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, and their two children. Despite the public speculation surrounding the viral video, neither Byron nor Cabot has made a direct public statement regarding the incident.

Estimating Byron’s Net Worth

In May 2025, Astronomer closed its Series D funding round, reaching a valuation between $1.2 billion and $1.3 billion. As CEO, Byron is believed to hold between 1% and 5% equity in the company, valuing his stake between $12 million and $65 million.

Combined with prior earnings, bonuses, and stock options from previous roles, his total net worth is estimated to range between $20 million and $70 million. However, these are speculative figures and have not been publicly confirmed.

Who Is Kristin Cabot?

Kristin Cabot became Astronomer’s Chief People Officer in November 2024. She leads HR operations at the company, overseeing employee engagement, culture-building, and internal development strategies.

Cabot previously worked in HR leadership roles at ObserveIT, Proofpoint, and Neo4j. Her background also includes roles in advertising and business operations.

She earned her degree from Gettysburg College and is an advocate for diversity hiring and tech-driven HR practices.

Based in Boston, Cabot’s attendance at the local Coldplay concert drew additional attention, particularly due to her senior role within the same firm as Byron.

Mistaken Identity Sparks LinkedIn Humor

The viral moment unintentionally led to online confusion. Social media users flooded the LinkedIn profile of a different Andy Byron, a video designer at Stylo Motion Design.

Clarifying the mix-up, he wrote in a post, “No, this isn’t me. I wouldn’t be caught dead at a Coldplay concert.”

In a humorous update, he added to his bio, “NOT THE GUY FROM THE COLDPLAY GIG!!” and continued, “I’m the Andy Byron who makes videos for big screens, not the one who gets caught on them. If you want to make video content that goes viral for the right reasons, let’s connect,” concluding with a laughing emoji.

Public Apology from the CEO

Amid growing online scrutiny, a letter allegedly from the actual Andy Byron began circulating. In it, he seemed to acknowledge the public fallout.

“I want to acknowledge the moment that’s been circulating online, and the disappointment it’s caused. What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake playing out on a very public stage,” the letter reads.

Byron continued, “I want to sincerely apologise to my wife, my family, and the team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader.”

The letter concludes with a statement about taking accountability: “This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I’m taking time to reflect, to take accountability, and to figure out the next steps.”

Fallout and Personal Impact

Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, is an educator at the Bancroft School in Massachusetts.

The couple resides in New York with their two children. Amid the controversy, reports suggest that Megan has removed the ‘Byron’ surname from her social media accounts.

The moment, originally intended as a light-hearted concert feature, has now become a widely discussed episode blending viral entertainment with deeper professional and personal implications.
