Huma Qureshi’s Cousin Asif Qureshi Allegedly Killed in Delhi Parking Dispute

A CCTV video has surfaced showing a violent altercation that led to the death of Asif Qureshi, cousin of actress Huma Qureshi, following a dispute over parking in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area.

The footage captures two men assaulting Asif with a sharp weapon while his wife attempts to intervene.

Incident Details

The conflict began when Asif, returning home on Thursday night, requested two neighbours to move their scooters parked at the entrance of his house in Jangpura Bhogal Lane. This seemingly minor request escalated into a heated verbal exchange.

The accused, identified as brothers Gautam and Ujjwal, were seen in the footage grabbing Asif by the collar. Moments later, Gautam stabbed Asif using an ice-pick.

The attack took place in front of several bystanders, including Asif’s wife, Sainaz, who tried to defuse the situation.

Asif Succumbs to Injuries

Following the attack, Asif was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The severity of his injuries had resulted in significant blood loss.

Background of the Accused

According to local residents, Gautam has a history of drug abuse and violent behavior in the neighbourhood. His younger brother Ujjwal earns a living by playing the dholak at religious gatherings.

The brothers were reportedly raised by their father after their mother left the family years ago, contributing to a troubled upbringing.

Previous Conflicts Over Parking

Sainaz revealed to the police that this was not the first confrontation. The accused had previously quarreled with Asif over the same parking issue and even issued threats.

She claimed that when Asif returned home that night and found their scooter blocking the entrance, he politely asked them to move it, which triggered the altercation.

Instead of complying, the accused began verbally abusing him and soon resorted to violence. Sainaz alleged that they used sharp objects to attack her husband, leaving him fatally wounded.

Eyewitness Account of the Incident

Shaheen Asif Qureshi, another wife of Asif, described the sequence of events in detail. She stated that around 9:30 to 10 pm, a scooter was parked in front of their home.

Asif asked the neighbour to remove it, but instead of cooperating, the man hurled abuses and threatened to return.

Shaheen added that shortly after the verbal abuse, the man returned with his brother and launched a brutal attack.

Asif was stabbed with a sharp weapon before anyone could intervene. She tried to call Asif’s brother, Javed, but by the time he arrived, it was too late.

Statements from Family Members

Saleem Qureshi, Huma Qureshi’s father and uncle of the deceased, expressed grief over the loss.

He recounted that the confrontation began over a simple request to move a parked scooter. He said the brothers attacked Asif together, ultimately killing him.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder. Both accused, Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), have been taken into custody and the murder weapon has been seized.

Past Threats and Attempts

According to another relative, this was not the first time the accused had attempted to harm Asif.

She claimed that in November of the previous year, the same individuals barged into their house with a large stone in an attempt to injure him. Only timely intervention prevented a tragedy then.

She alleged that the accused and their family members had entered the home uninvited and issued death threats during that incident.

On the night of Asif’s murder, she said the accused launched a coordinated attack. Ujjwal allegedly struck Asif in the chest with a sharp weapon, causing him to collapse and bleed profusely.

Asif’s brother reached the scene 15–20 minutes later and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. Witnesses claimed that despite the severity of the situation, no one else in the area stepped in to help.

Ongoing Investigation

Police have confirmed the arrest of the two brothers and have launched an investigation to determine further details. Statements from the victim’s family, neighbours, and eyewitnesses will play a crucial role in the case.
