Aryan Khan’s Debut Series Teaser Sparks Buzz, Draws Comparisons to Father Shah Rukh Khan
Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. revealed the first look of The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, marking Aryan Khan’s highly awaited directorial debut.
The teaser begins with Aryan’s voiceover, which opens on a romantic note but ends with a sharp twist, stirring nostalgia of Hindi cinema while hinting at a modern perspective.
What appears to start as a tribute quickly transforms into something bolder and louder.
The makers described the series as, “Set against a filmy backdrop, the first glimpse signals a generational shift, where the romance of the past meets the vision of a new storyteller. The Ba**ds of Bollywood is a genre-defying series that blends self-awareness with cheeky humour.”*
Aryan Khan’s Voice Creates Buzz
Aryan takes the spotlight with his first project. In the teaser, he says, “Bollywood – jisse aapne saalon se pyaar bhi kiya aur vaar bhi kiya, main bhi wohi karunga, bohot saara pyaar… aur thoda sa vaar.”
His delivery sets the tone for the series, hinting at a world that is stylish, chaotic, provocative, yet grounded.
The show features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor.
It is co-created by Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, with Aryan also contributing to the writing. Produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, Bonnie Jain and Akshat Verma serve as executive producers.
Fans Call Aryan Khan “Carbon Copy” of SRK
Soon after its release on August 17, fans were stunned by Aryan’s striking resemblance to Shah Rukh Khan. On Reddit, many pointed out how his voice was almost identical to his father’s.
One user wrote, “I genuinely thought it was Shah Rukh doing the voiceover. CRAZY how their voices are SO similar.” Another added, “His voice is also like SRK’s, I thought SRK had dubbed the whole thing.”
Others expressed admiration, calling Aryan “Papa ki carbon copy” and jokingly referring to him as “Shah Rukh Khan’s AI version.” Some remarked on his appearance, noting, “Aryan Khan is actually really hot,” while one fan said, “Dude is handsome… probably the best-looking nepo kid from the current lot.”
Should Aryan Have Acted Instead?
The teaser has also sparked conversations about Aryan’s potential as an actor. Many fans felt he should have stepped into acting rather than direction.
One comment read, “The wrong Khan kid debuted in acting… Aryan’s direction skills will be known later, but this one at least knows basic acting.” Another noted, “Why do I think Aryan will be a better actor among SRK’s kids?”
Aryan’s sister, Suhana Khan, made her debut with Netflix’s The Archies in 2023, directed by Zoya Akhtar. While the film had moderate success, Suhana’s performance faced mixed reactions.
