Disha Patani was born on 13 June 1992 in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. She belongs to a Hindu Kumaoni Rajput family. Disha initially pursued engineering at Amity University, Lucknow but left in her second year to follow her passion for acting. She was the first runner-up at Pond’s Femina Miss India Indore in 2013.

Disha began her acting journey in 2015 with the Telugu film Loafer opposite Varun Tej. She played the role of Mouni, a girl fleeing a forced marriage. The film did not perform well at the box office. Her breakthrough came with M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), where she portrayed Priyanka Jha, the late girlfriend of MS Dhoni.
