Biography

Pooja Hegde was born on 13 October 1990 and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She belongs to a Tulu-speaking Bunt family originally from Udupi, Karnataka. A graduate in Commerce from M. M. K. College, she trained in Bharatanatyam and classical music. Fluent in Tulu, Hindi, English, Marathi, and Kannada, she later learned Telugu to expand her career in South Indian cinema.

Her journey began after participating in Miss India 2009, where she won Miss India Talented. In 2010, she became the second runner-up at Miss Universe India. Her debut came with the Tamil superhero film Mugamoodi (2012), followed by recognition in Telugu cinema through Oka Laila Kosam (2014) and Mukunda (2014). Her Bollywood debut was in Mohenjo Daro (2016), opposite Hrithik Roshan.

In 2016, she made her Bollywood debut in Mohenjo Daro. Her Telugu film DJ: Duvvada Jagannadham (2017) with Allu Arjun was a major hit. In 2018, she starred in Saakshyam, Rangasthalam (item song), and Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, which became a blockbuster.
