‘All of Us Are Dead’ Season 2 Finally Moves Forward as Production Call Sheet Surfaces

All of Us Are Dead made its debut on Netflix on January 28, 2022, and quickly became one of the platform’s most popular shows.

The zombie thriller, based on a webtoon of the same name, gained global popularity, leading to Netflix renewing the series for a second season in June 2022.

However, despite its immense success, the production of Season 2 faced several delays, leaving fans waiting for years without major updates.

After this long gap, there is finally news to excite fans. Filming for the highly anticipated second season is set to begin this year, and new cast members have been officially announced, adding to the excitement surrounding the show’s return.

New Faces Join the Popular Zombie Series

According to a report from News1 via Anime News Network, the upcoming season will introduce several new cast members.

The new additions include Min-jae Lee, Si-eun Kim, Ji-hoon Seo, Ga-yi Yoon, and Jae-won Roh. These actors will join the original cast of Ji-hu Park, Chan-young Yoon, Yi-hyun Cho, Lomon, In-soo Yoo, and Yoo-mi Lee, who all rose to fame following the show’s global success in 2022.

Chun Sung-il, the writer behind all 12 episodes of Season 1, is confirmed to return for the second season, ensuring continuity in the show’s storytelling and tone.

The Story So Far: A High School Trapped in Chaos

The first season of All of Us Are Dead was built on a gripping yet simple premise. A science experiment gone wrong at a local high school leads to a deadly zombie outbreak.

With students quickly infected and the school placed under lockdown, the remaining survivors find themselves isolated from the outside world.

With resources running low, the students must rely on whatever they can find within the school to survive the horrifying assault of the infected.

The series stood out not only for its intense zombie action but also for its realistic portrayal of human emotions and struggles in an extraordinary crisis. The characters, grounded in their humanity, resonated with audiences worldwide.

Season 2: What Lies Ahead

All of Us Are Dead has become part of Netflix’s successful lineup of Korean dramas that have captivated global audiences, alongside titles like Sweet Home and Squid Game.

Both those shows also experienced multi-year gaps between seasons, making the wait for All of Us Are Dead Season 2 not unusual for K-drama fans.

Interestingly, two of the newly announced cast members, Si-eun Kim and Jae-won Roh, also appear in Squid Game Season 2, adding to the excitement for their roles in this series.

The upcoming season is expected to answer the lingering questions left by the Season 1 finale.

Viewers are eager to learn more about the so-called “halfbies,” the human-zombie hybrids, and the fate of the surviving Hyosan students now that they are no longer trapped within the school walls.

Creator Hints at a New Perspective for Season 2

Director Lee Jae Gyoo had previously hinted at what fans could expect from the new season.

He shared, “The story itself was set with Season 2 in mind, so if Season 2 comes out, it might be a little more interesting and expanded story. If Season 1 was a survival period for humans, there is a sense of humor, but Season 2 feels like it will be a survival period for zombies.”

This suggests that the new season will explore a broader world and may offer a new perspective on the zombie outbreak, shifting focus beyond just human survival.

Filming Set to Begin, Release Date Awaited

The production for Season 2 of All of Us Are Dead is scheduled to start next month. While Netflix has not yet announced an official release date, the confirmation of filming has brought hope to fans who have been waiting patiently for updates.

In the meantime, viewers can rewatch the first season, which remains available for streaming on Netflix, as anticipation builds for the next chapter in this thrilling zombie saga.
