AP Dhillon Breaks Silence on Diljit Dosanjh Feud and Concert Controversies
The ongoing feud between Punjabi singers AP Dhillon and Diljit Dosanjh has stirred significant attention on social media.
AP Dhillon recently addressed the controversy surrounding concert ticket sales during his appearance on The Ranveer Show.
He specifically highlighted issues related to tickets for Diljit’s ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour, which reportedly sell out within seconds.
AP Dhillon Criticizes Unfair Ticket Sales Practices
In the podcast, Dhillon remarked, “India mein abhi crisis aa jayega agar isi hisab se chalta raha (There’ll come a crisis in India if things go on like this).”
He accused artists of being unfair to fans by claiming shows sold out within 15 seconds. According to Dhillon, this is merely a marketing tactic. He elaborated that tickets are often allocated to promoters, forcing fans to buy them at higher prices later.
Dhillon continued, “Promoters ko ticket de dete hain. Their fans, ab unko wait karna padta hai, aur higher price mein ticket khareedna padta hai (Tickets are given to promoters, and fans must wait to purchase them at inflated prices).”
Maintaining Integrity in Music
Reflecting on his own practices, Dhillon revealed he had contemplated adopting similar marketing strategies but ultimately decided against it.
“At some point, humein bhi yehi laga (we also thought), should we play this game? But I’m like no, we can’t go to bed knowing that jinhone show dekhne aana tha, humne unke sath aise kiya (those who wanted to attend the show, we did this to them).”
He further stated that at any so-called sold-out event, he could still secure thousands of tickets if needed.
“People are playing music like a game. So usi mein mazza jo hai kharab ho gaya (The joy in it has been spoiled),” Dhillon remarked.
Diljit Dosanjh’s Response
Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour, which started in Gurgaon and will conclude in Guwahati on December 29, has been under scrutiny due to its instant sell-out claims.
At a recent concert, Diljit defended himself, stating he has no involvement in ticket sales. “I’ve been working on my music for years, and I’ve earned this fan frenzy,” he said.
Following Dhillon’s comments, Diljit took to Instagram to address the issue directly.
He shared a screenshot of Dhillon’s account, writing, “I never blocked you. Mere pange sarkaaran naal ho sakde aa, kalaakaran naal nahi (My issues might be with governments, not with artists).”
In response, Dhillon posted a video showing proof that Diljit had previously blocked him but later unblocked him.
A Dirty Game
AP Dhillon described the situation as a “dirty game” that takes advantage of fans. He emphasized that artists are not bigger than their audience and should ensure tickets are available at reasonable prices.
“Log music ko abhi game ki tarah khel rahe hain. So usi mein mazza jo hai kharab ho gaya (People are playing music like a game, spoiling the joy),” Dhillon reiterated. He urged fellow artists to prioritize integrity over marketing gimmicks.
A Growing Rift
The feud between Dhillon and Dosanjh escalated further during their respective concerts.
At his Chandigarh show, Dhillon called out Diljit, claiming he had been blocked on Instagram. This statement went viral, prompting Diljit to clarify his stance publicly.
Adding another dimension to the controversy, singer Badshah weighed in with a cryptic Instagram post, encouraging unity among artists.
“Please don’t make the mistakes that we made. The world is ours for the taking. Like they say, ‘If you wanna go fast, go alone, but if you wanna go far, go together,’” he wrote.
Conclusion of Tours
Both artists are concluding their tours in December. Diljit’s Dil-Luminati Tour will wrap up on December 29 in Guwahati, while Dhillon’s Brownprint Tour concluded on December 21 in Chandigarh.
Despite their public disagreements, fans of both artists hope for a resolution that upholds the integrity of their shared Punjabi music heritage.
