Comedian Pranit More Faces Backlash as Old Salman Khan Jokes Go Viral

Comedian Pranit More Faces Backlash as Old Salman Khan Jokes Go Viral

Pranit More, once a radio jockey, has now stepped into the spotlight as a contestant on Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan.

Known as a stand-up comedian, Pranit made headlines earlier this year when he was attacked during a live show for making jokes about actor Veer Pahariya.

While he immediately took legal action, he largely avoided the limelight after the incident. Ahead of his Bigg Boss entry, Pranit said in an exclusive interview with SCREEN that he was not joining the show to clear his stand.

Why Pranit Chose Bigg Boss

Speaking about his decision, Pranit explained, “When I got the offer to do the show, I thought to myself I’ve done so many different things in life. I was an RJ, then moved on to stand-up comedy, so this felt like a new opportunity.”

He added that while stand-up mostly caters to a YouTube audience, Bigg Boss gives him a chance to connect with TV viewers. However, he admitted to never having watched the show before, learning its rules only after joining.

“I had to learn everything from my team, from the rules of the house to surprising details like there being no clocks and even pens and paper not being allowed,” he revealed.

The Solapur Attack

In February, Pranit was assaulted by a group of 10–12 people in Solapur, Maharashtra, after being warned against making jokes about Veer Pahariya.

The attack left him injured and caused heavy damage to the venue. Reflecting on the incident, he said, “Life changed a lot after that incident. Now I am a lot more conscious that anything can happen. We are extra cautious before putting out content now.”

Though his style of content remains unchanged, Pranit explained that security expenses for shows have risen. Interestingly, audience numbers also grew after the controversy, with some linking his popularity spike to the incident.

Veer Pahariya’s Response

After the attack, Veer Pahariya condemned the violence on social media. However, Pranit clarified, “Veer never personally reached out to me.”

When asked if Bigg Boss was his platform to clear the air, Pranit replied, “If I stay stuck in that incident, I won’t be able to grow in life. It happened, and there’s nothing I want to prove. I’ve already taken the necessary legal action, and the case is ongoing. I’m not here to clear that controversy.”

Changing Audience Sensitivities

Pranit also reflected on how audiences perceive comedy today. “Today, people do get offended easily, and it does bother us to some extent. What topic do we now joke about? The live show audience doesn’t bother us so much because they come for it. The ones who see the content sitting at home get offended.”

He admitted that his team now avoids content in grey areas, though live performances remain unchanged.

His Bigg Boss 19 Audition

Pranit recalled his audition for the reality show. “In my audition, they asked me about my personality, likes, dislikes. We spoke about stand-up comedy and life. It wasn’t a very serious interview. We only had one meeting.”

He added that he did not discuss how he wished to be portrayed. “If the cameras monitor you 24/7, you cannot control how you are seen, because that is who you are. How much will they edit it?”

His Personality in the House

When asked what fans can expect, Pranit described himself as an ambivert.

“I am a happy-go-lucky kind of a person, I am an ambivert. I take some time to open up. My strength is that I am very patient, and that can work in my favor. My weakness is that I might not be able to give them the drama they need.”

He noted that double standards and loud behavior trigger him most.

Jokes on Salman Khan Resurface

As Pranit entered Bigg Boss 19, old clips of his stand-up routines resurfaced online. He had often joked about Salman Khan, poking fun at the actor’s driving, Panvel farmhouse, and iconic bracelet.

In one viral clip, he teased a woman in the audience wearing a large ring, comparing it to Salman’s bracelet. When she replied, “Haan, uska hi aadha leke aayi hoon,” Pranit responded, “Farmhouse par gayi thi kya?”

In another bit, he joked, “Kon hai iska brand ambassador… Salman Khan,” when a woman mentioned her NGO “Humara Foothpath.” Other clips included remarks such as “Salman paise nahi khata, logon ke career khata hai.”

Face-to-Face with Salman Khan

The tables turned when Pranit met Salman Khan during the Bigg Boss 19 premiere. Speaking in Marathi, Salman teased him about his past jokes. Pranit responded, “Nahi sir, aap par mazak udaunga, toh khud udd jaunga.”

The exchange sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising his humility and others accusing him of changing his tone. Pranit later revealed that his father is a big fan of Salman Khan.

Who Is Pranit More?

Pranit More is a bilingual comedian who performs in Hindi and Marathi. Known on social media as ‘Maharashtrian Babu,’ he has more than 10 lakh subscribers on YouTube and 430K followers on Instagram.

Before comedy, Pranit worked as an RJ for four years and once dreamed of becoming a pilot. His career began after winning a college-level comedy competition. Today, he performs across India and also hosts film events.

Now, with the Bigg Boss platform, fans are eager to see whether he continues with bold jokes or takes a safer route under Salman Khan’s watch.
