Disha Salian’s Family Seeks Fresh Probe into 2020 Death, Moves Bombay High Court

The family of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has approached the Bombay High Court, seeking a fresh investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death in June 2020.
According to news agency PTI, Disha’s father, Satish Salian, has requested the court to order a First Information Report (FIR) against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Satish’s lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, stated that they were in the process of filing the petition and would get it registered at the High Court’s registry department on Thursday.
The petition claims that Disha was brutally raped and murdered, and that the investigation by Mumbai police was a politically motivated cover-up aimed at protecting influential figures.
Allegations of a Cover-Up
The plea asserts that the Mumbai police prematurely closed the case, labeling Disha’s death as a suicide or accidental fall without properly examining forensic evidence, circumstantial proof, and eyewitness accounts.
“The Mumbai police hastily closed the death as a case of suicide or accidental death without taking into account forensic evidence, circumstantial proof, and eyewitness testimonies,” the petition stated.
Initially, Disha’s family believed that the police investigation was credible but later became convinced that it was a cover-up.
Shiv Sena (UBT) Suspects Political Motive
Kishori Pednekar, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson and former Mumbai mayor, questioned the timing of the petition, suggesting that political motives could be behind it.
“Someone is behind it, and there is a conspiracy. How come this matter has come under the spotlight after more than four years? The CID conducted an inquiry, and there is already an SIT (Special Investigation Team) formed to probe the matter,” Pednekar remarked.
Background of Disha Salian’s Death
Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad, Mumbai. The Mumbai police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at the time.
Six days later, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment under mysterious circumstances. While the police initially ruled Sushant’s death as a suicide, the case was later handed over to the CBI.
Disha had previously worked with several celebrities, including Bharti Singh and Varun Sharma.
Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was investigated in connection with Sushant’s death, mentioned during questioning that she met Disha through Sushant.
BJP Demands Answers from Aaditya Thackeray
BJP minister Nitesh Rane called for Aaditya Thackeray to “speak the truth” and resign as an MLA until the investigation concludes.
“Aaditya Thackeray should speak the truth. He should resign as an MLA and face the probe,” Rane stated, as reported by PTI.
Rane further alleged that CCTV footage from Disha’s building was erased and pages from the visitor’s register were removed to destroy evidence. “I have been saying this from day one that Disha Salian was murdered,” Rane added.
Political Rivalry Between the Ranes and the Thackerays
The rivalry between the Ranes and the Thackerays has been ongoing since Nitesh Rane’s father, Narayan Rane, left Shiv Sena after a fallout with Uddhav Thackeray. This political tension has added complexity to the allegations surrounding Disha’s death.
Government’s Response
Yogesh Kadam, Minister of State in the Home Department, stated that Satish Salian should present any evidence he has to the authorities. “We will follow whatever direction the High Court gives. There will be no party politics in the probe,” Kadam assured.
Link Between Disha and Sushant’s Deaths
The deaths of Disha and Sushant have been the subject of intense media attention and public speculation. Both cases have raised questions about the role of influential figures and possible political interference in the investigations.
Disha’s death was initially treated as an accident, but recent developments and allegations of foul play have reignited calls for a thorough probe.
The outcome of the High Court’s decision and any subsequent CBI investigation could have significant political and legal ramifications.
