Jurassic World: Rebirth Drops Second Trailer Featuring Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali

The second trailer of Jurassic World: Rebirth has arrived, offering a deeper glimpse into the seventh installment of the iconic dinosaur saga.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Jurassic Park veteran David Koepp, the film stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey in major roles.
Set five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, the plot reveals a world where dinosaurs have been relegated to remote equatorial zones due to climate changes. However, a few surviving species are believed to carry DNA that could spark a revolutionary medical breakthrough.
A Dangerous Mission with High Stakes
Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a covert operative leading a mission to extract DNA from three massive dinosaurs. She is joined by Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid and Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist.
Martin Krebs plays a pharmaceutical executive, with Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein in supporting roles.
The trailer reveals their mission quickly spirals out of control when they encounter a civilian family stranded on the island after an aquatic dinosaur attack.
The team and the family become marooned together on the island, where they uncover a buried secret with massive implications.
Terrifying Evolution in Dinosaur Threats
The latest visuals hint at a significant evolution in the franchise’s action and horror elements, with threats not just on land but also from the air and sea.
Avian dinosaurs and aquatic predators make a chilling appearance in the trailer, heightening the tension as the group fights for survival.
However, one new creature stands out as the franchise’s most grotesque and horrifying yet — the Distortus Rex, or D-Rex.
Distortus Rex: The Franchise’s Most Grotesque Creation
The D-Rex, engineered at a previously unknown InGen site, emerges as a monstrous hybrid creation. “It’s kind of like if the T-Rex was designed by H.R. Giger, and then that whole thing had sex with a Rancor,” director Gareth Edwards told Empire.
The beast features six limbs, jagged rows of teeth, and a deformed structure, elevating the creature to nightmare status within the Jurassic universe.
Return to a Forgotten Island
Produced by Amblin Entertainment, Jurassic World: Rebirth is slated for release on July 2. The film brings back the tone of the original 1993 classic, plunging audiences once more into an abandoned theme park where dangerous dinosaur experiments once took place.
The trailer begins with a chaotic scene inside a research facility. Scientists flee to safety, but one is caught behind a door and pleads for help — only to be snatched by a massive claw.
A Team on a Critical Quest
The team’s mission is to collect DNA from three different dinosaur species — from land, sea, and air — to develop a groundbreaking drug.
As Zora Bennett points out, the island was the original site of Jurassic Park’s experiments. She ominously notes, “The theme park owners did experimental work, leaving only the worst ones here.”
Their expedition soon intersects with a stranded family, the Delgados, fighting to survive. The team decides to help them, all while pushing forward with their DNA retrieval mission.
They appear to have control, handling smaller dinosaur encounters effectively, until they stumble upon the disturbing consequences of the original experiments.
An Uneasy Realization
As danger escalates, Dr. Henry Loomis delivers a grim warning: “We have put ourselves in a place where we don’t belong; survival is a long shot.”
The group must navigate treacherous jungles, hostile creatures, and looming threats to complete their mission and ensure the civilians’ safety.
A New Level of Chaos
The trailer reaches a terrifying peak when a baby dinosaur cries out in fear, just before a blood-red mist reveals the D-Rex.
The creature, seemingly the result of a failed T-Rex experiment, triggers mayhem as the group battles predators that have claimed the island as their domain. The stakes grow with every passing moment as survival becomes less certain.
The cast also includes Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in important roles.
With a mix of suspense, horror, and action, Jurassic World: Rebirth promises to elevate the franchise with its most intense chapter yet. The film arrives in theatres on July 2.
