Kayadu Lohar Linked to TASMAC Scam, ED Probing ₹35 Lakh Payment

Kayadu Lohar Linked to TASMAC Scam, ED Probing ₹35 Lakh Payment

Kayadu Lohar, who gained prominence in the Tamil film industry following the success of the 2025 fantasy-action film Dragon, is currently facing significant scrutiny for her alleged connection to the ongoing TASMAC scam.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is reportedly investigating Lohar’s financial ties with individuals accused in this large-scale liquor scam that has created a storm in Tamil Nadu.

As per reports, ED officials uncovered that the actress allegedly received ₹35 lakh from key players linked to the scandal.

These payments were reportedly made for attending exclusive night parties, which are now being investigated for potentially serving as fronts for money laundering and political influence.

Financial Trails Revealed During ED Raids

The ED conducted multiple raids across Tamil Nadu as part of their broader probe into corruption and embezzlement associated with TASMAC—the state-run liquor distribution system.

These raids unearthed financial links pointing to several celebrities. Lohar’s name reportedly came up during the questioning of primary suspects.

Although she has not been officially summoned or charged, officials confirmed that her financial transactions are under investigation.

According to sources close to the case, the alleged payments were made under the pretense of celebrity party appearances, but authorities suspect a deeper connection.

Lohar has not yet issued any public statements in response to the allegations.

Rise of Kayadu Lohar in Indian Cinema

Hailing from Tezpur, Assam, Kayadu Lohar began her film career in 2021 with the Kannada film Mugilpete.

She later appeared in several regional films, including Malayalam projects Pathonpatham Noottandu and Oru Jaathi Jaathakam, the Telugu film Alluri, and the Marathi movie I Prem U.

Her breakthrough came with Dragon, in which she portrayed Pallavi opposite Pradeep, Anupama Parameswaran, and Mysskin.

Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the film received both critical and commercial success, cementing her position as a rising star. She is now set to appear in STR49 alongside Silambarasan, a film that has already generated industry buzz.

The Scope of the TASMAC Scam

The TASMAC scam is one of the most significant political and financial scandals in Tamil Nadu’s recent history.

It includes allegations of illegal liquor sales, inflated billing, and kickbacks within the state’s official alcohol network. Investigators estimate that more than ₹1000 crore has been siphoned off, implicating politicians, contractors, and bureaucrats.

With Kayadu Lohar’s name reportedly appearing in connection to individuals under ED investigation, the scandal has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry.

It has raised serious concerns about how deeply celebrity culture might be entangled in corruption networks.

Silence from the Actress and Industry Reactions

There has been no official statement from Lohar or her legal team so far. However, the development has sparked widespread conversation on social media and in film circles.

While her supporters are hoping she will clarify the issue soon, others have called for greater accountability and transparency.

Whether or not the allegations are substantiated, the fact that Lohar’s name has emerged in such a high-profile investigation is expected to impact her professional journey, which was previously seen as one of the most promising in the South Indian film industry.

Supreme Court’s View on the ED Probe

According to PTI, the Supreme Court recently observed that the ED is “crossing all the limits” and infringing upon the federal structure in its probe into TASMAC.

The court stayed the money laundering investigation into the alleged corruption within the state-run liquor entity.

Despite the SC’s concerns, a law officer defended the ED’s actions, pointing out that the case involves corruption amounting to over ₹1000 crore. He stated that the ED is not “crossing the limits—at least in this case.”

Lohar’s Filmography and Upcoming Projects

Kayadu Lohar first came into the spotlight after winning Fresh Face Season 12, which led to her film debut. She entered Malayalam and Telugu cinema in 2022 with Pathonpatham Noottandu and Alluri. In 2023, she expanded into Marathi cinema with I Prem U.

Following her performance in Oru Jaathi Jaathakam, Lohar gained widespread recognition for her role as Pallavi Parasuram in Dragon. She will next appear in Idhayam Murali, Immortal, and a yet-untitled project with Silambarasan TR in Tamil.

For now, Lohar remains silent on the controversy, with fans and critics alike awaiting clarity as the ED moves into the next phase of its investigation.
