Krrish 4 Shake-Up: Siddharth Anand Exits, New Director to Take Over

The much-anticipated film Krrish 4 has faced several setbacks, delaying its production further. Starring Hrithik Roshan, the superhero franchise’s fourth installment was initially set to be produced under Siddharth Anand’s Marflix.
However, Anand has now exited the project, leaving the production under a new banner. The film will also have a new director as veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan confirmed that he is stepping down from the director’s role.
Reports initially suggested that the film’s estimated budget is around ₹700 crore, raising doubts among potential studios about the project’s viability in the current superhero market.
However, a source clarified to India Today Digital that the rumored budget figures are exaggerated. The source said, “The astronomical budget figures doing the rounds are completely untrue.”
Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan have now decided to approach major studios across India directly to secure a deal.
The film will be produced under Rakesh Roshan’s home banner, FilmKraft, in collaboration with a leading studio. Marflix, meanwhile, will focus on other projects.
Director Karan Malhotra Also Exits
In addition to Siddharth Anand’s departure, director Karan Malhotra, who was expected to helm Krrish 4 under Anand’s guidance, has also left the project.
As a result, a new creative team will be brought in to reassess the film’s budget and direction.
Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan confirmed that he will not direct Krrish 4.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he said, “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. So, it’s better I do it when I am in my senses so that I can overlook the process and ascertain whether he’s doing it correctly or not. Tomorrow, if I am not in my senses and have to pass it on, I will not know what they are making.”
Rakesh Roshan also stated that his departure from the director’s chair is not a cause for concern. He admitted that even if he directed the film, success would not be guaranteed.
“There’s no guarantee that if Rakesh Roshan directs Krrish 4, it’ll be a blockbuster. It might be the other way round as well,” he added.
Krrish Franchise’s Legacy
The Krrish franchise began with the 2003 sci-fi film Koi Mil Gaya, directed by Rakesh Roshan and starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta.
The film’s success led to the launch of Krrish in 2006, with Hrithik Roshan reprising his role alongside Priyanka Chopra. Krrish 3 followed in 2013, featuring Hrithik, Priyanka, Vivek Oberoi, and Kangana Ranaut, further solidifying the franchise’s popularity.
All three films were box office successes, making the Krrish series one of India’s most beloved superhero franchises.
The announcement of Krrish 4 generated significant excitement among fans, but production hurdles have delayed its progress.
Hrithik Roshan’s Current Projects
While Krrish 4 remains in limbo, Hrithik Roshan is currently working on War 2, the sequel to the 2019 action hit War.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 will feature Hrithik alongside Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani. Hrithik recently suffered a knee injury while filming a dance sequence for the movie but is expected to recover soon.
War 2 is part of Yash Raj Films’ expansive Spy Universe and is among the most awaited films of the year.
New Strategy for Krrish 4
With Siddharth Anand and Karan Malhotra out of the picture, Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan are taking direct control of the project. They are actively negotiating with studios across India to finalize a production deal.
The film will now be produced under FilmKraft, with a new director and creative team set to lead the project.
Rakesh Roshan’s decision to step down as director marks a significant shift for the franchise. However, his continued involvement as a creative overseer ensures that the essence of Krrish remains intact.
Fans remain hopeful that the film will go on floors by the end of the year, with production expected to begin in 2026.
Rakesh Roshan on Moving Forward
Rakesh Roshan expressed confidence in passing the directorial responsibilities to a new filmmaker. He emphasized that success is never guaranteed, even with experienced hands at the helm.
“That chance we have to take,” he said. “There’s no certainty that my direction will result in a blockbuster.”
Despite the production hurdles, the excitement surrounding Krrish 4 remains strong. With a new director and creative team expected to be announced soon, fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on the film’s progress.
