Shah Rukh Khan Halts ‘King’ Shoot After Injury During Action Sequence: Reports
Shah Rukh Khan reportedly sustained a minor back injury while filming his upcoming movie King. The actor, last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, was shooting in Mumbai with director Siddharth Anand when the incident occurred.
Travel for Treatment and Recovery
According to India Today, the actor initially travelled to the US for medical attention and is now in the UK, where he is said to be recovering with his family.
A source told the publication that the injury is not serious and the actor is recovering well. Due to the incident, filming for King has been temporarily halted and is expected to resume in September. Khan’s planned trip to Sri Lanka has also been postponed.
History of Past Injuries
This is not the first time Shah Rukh Khan has suffered a back injury. During the filming of Boney Kapoor’s 2002 film Shakti, the actor injured his back and was treated in the UK.
Diagnosed with a prolapsed disc, he underwent an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion surgery. He resumed work shortly after with Swades.
Actor Daya Shankar Panday once recalled in Friday Talkies how SRK continued shooting despite pain, saying, “This was the same time when Shah Rukh Khan was suffering from severe back pain. So much that he had a physio on set.”
SRK had earlier fractured three ribs and his left knee on the sets of Yash Chopra’s Darr. Another knee injury occurred during the filming of Rakesh Roshan’s Koyla, which worsened while shooting for Ra-One in 2011, leading to surgery.
In 2007, he injured his left shoulder during the filming of Dulha Mil Gaya, which was reinjured while working on Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan in 2008. A significant shoulder injury in 2013 led to surgery in London.
Details About the Film King
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King will feature Shah Rukh Khan alongside his daughter Suhana Khan, marking her big-screen debut after The Archies.
The cast also includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor, and Abhay Verma.
The film is set to release theatrically between October and December 2026 and is described as an action thriller. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed concern for SRK in a post where she referred to him as her “brother” and wished him a quick recovery.
She wrote, “Reports regarding my brother Shah Rukh Khan sustaining muscular injuries during shooting make me worried. Wish him a speedy recovery,” tagging the actor in her post.
Relationship With Mamata Banerjee
Mamata Banerjee’s fondness for SRK is well known. The actor is the brand ambassador of West Bengal and frequently attends the Kolkata International Film Festival.
Their bond regularly attracts media attention, with Banerjee often calling him “brother.”
Fans Send Well-Wishes, But No Official Statement Yet
Fans across the country have taken to social media to send their best wishes for Khan’s recovery. However, neither Shah Rukh Khan nor his team has issued any official statement regarding the injury or its effect on the film’s schedule.
Multiple reports recently circulated online suggesting the injury has delayed filming and that Khan has travelled to the US and then to the UK for recovery. The production is expected to resume in September.
Contradictory Reports on Injury
While several outlets reported the back injury, NDTV quoted a close source who denied the news.
According to the source, SRK has sustained various injuries over the years during shoots, some of which occasionally flare up. The actor often travels to the US for treatment, which was the case in the second week of July. He is expected to return by the end of the month.
The source also clarified that a previous report about a nose injury was misleading—it was in fact a minor nasal surgery and not the result of filming.
Final Word on Ongoing Speculation
As rumours continue to swirl online, the trusted source emphasized that the current concerns are unfounded. Shah Rukh Khan has had a long history of film-related injuries and treatment visits to the US.
No official statement has yet confirmed the recent injury or changes to King‘s schedule.
