Shots Fired at Kapil Sharma’s Restaurant in Canada’s Surrey; Police Investigating
Kapil Sharma’s recently launched restaurant, Kap’s Café, in Surrey, British Columbia, was targeted in a shooting incident in the early hours of Thursday, July 10.
Bullet holes were spotted in the café’s windows as Surrey Police launched a probe into the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Surrey Police responded to a call at 1:50 a.m. local time from a local business. While the establishment was not named in the police report, sources confirmed it was Sharma’s Kap’s Café that came under fire. Several staff members were inside when the shots were fired.

In an emotional Instagram post, the team at Kap’s Café stated they were “processing this shock” but declared their resolve to “stand firm against violence.”
The statement read, “We opened Kap’s Café with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking.”
They added, “Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This café exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Khalistani Link Under Scrutiny
The incident occurred just days after the café’s soft launch. Approximately ten bullet holes were found in the café’s windows. Reports have emerged linking the attack to a suspected Khalistani figure.
As per an NDTV report, Harjit Singh Laddi, reportedly a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative and on India’s most wanted list, has claimed responsibility.
He allegedly cited offensive remarks by Kapil Sharma as the motive, though these details remain unverified.
Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton of Surrey Police confirmed that the investigation is in its early stages. “Connections to other incidents and potential motives are being examined. Once that’s done, we’ll have a better idea of what happened,” he said.
The Vancouver Sun reported that the suspect’s identity remains unknown and the motive behind the shooting is yet to be determined.
No Injuries Reported, But Security Concerns Rise
The Surrey Police Service stated that although shots were fired toward the business and caused property damage, none of the café’s employees were harmed.
The incident is being treated as a serious threat and remains under active investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed any immediate suspects and are currently exploring possible connections with other similar incidents in the area.
