Supernatural Reunion: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins Join The Boys Season 5

Fans of Supernatural have a reason to celebrate as The Boys is bringing back some familiar faces.
On Wednesday, February 26, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Jensen Ackles shared a major announcement that thrilled long-time fans of the beloved series.
In a joint Instagram Reel posted by The Boys and Prime Video, the message was clear: “Season 5 just got a bit more supernatural.”
A Nostalgic Teaser for Fans
The video begins with Ackles, 46, addressing Padalecki, 42, saying, “Hey, Jared. We got work to do…again.” This phrase, a callback to Supernatural, immediately caught fans’ attention.
Padalecki responded, “Okay. I’ll tell Misha,” as he panned the camera to a Chevrolet Impala with witchcraft symbols on the open trunk. Collins, 50, then appeared, smiling and giving a thumbs-up while asking, “What are we doing?” before the clip ended.
The Legacy of Supernatural
Supernatural aired from 2005 to 2020, with Padalecki and Ackles portraying brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who hunted supernatural creatures. Collins joined the series in season 4 as Castiel.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, another Supernatural alum, appeared in season 4 of The Boys as Joe Kessler. Ackles, already a part of The Boys universe as Soldier Boy, is set to return for season 5 and the upcoming spinoff Vought Rising alongside Aya Cash.
He also narrated The Winchesters, a short-lived prequel about Sam and Dean’s parents.
The Boys and Its Unique Perspective
When The Boys season 4 premiered, showrunner Eric Kripke, who also created Supernatural, confirmed that season 5 would be the final chapter of the popular series.
“Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax,” Kripke shared on X, referencing the show’s fictional evil corporation.
Kripke has long emphasized that The Boys is not just another superhero series.
“The Boys and their spinoffs, none of them are really superhero shows,” he explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “They have the suits and powers, but The Boys is a show about celebrity, politics, and late-stage capitalism.”
Guest Appearances in Season 5
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Padalecki and Collins will make guest appearances in season 5, though further details remain under wraps.
Kripke had previously expressed interest in bringing Padalecki onto the show, once admitting in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that reuniting him with Ackles would “break the internet.”
The recent cancellation of Padalecki’s series Walker made this long-awaited reunion a reality.
The Growing Cast of The Boys
While it remains unclear if Padalecki and Collins will share scenes with Morgan, fans are hopeful for a full-fledged Supernatural reunion.
In addition to these familiar faces, season 5 will introduce new cast members, including Hamilton and The Little Mermaid star Daveed Diggs in an undisclosed role and Mason Dye as supe Bombsight.
Kripke teased that season 4’s explosive finale, which saw Homelander (Antony Starr) and the supes seize control of the U.S. government, sets the stage for an intense final season.
“Instead of having a villain talk about a thing they’re going to do, which then our heroes stop from coming to pass, it’s just so fun that he really did it,” he said. “He took over the country. It’s his country now. What does that look like in season 5, and how do our characters fight against it?”
Returning Cast and Future Plans
Series regulars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Cameron Crovetti, and Colby Minifie will return for season 5. Newcomers Susan Heyward and Valorie Curry will also reprise their roles.
A post-credits scene in the season 4 finale confirmed Soldier Boy’s return, with Ackles set to have a significant role not only in season 5 but also in Vought Rising.
The upcoming prequel, the third spinoff in The Boys universe following Diabolical and Gen V, will explore the early days of superheroes in the 1950s.
A Supernatural Farewell
With season 5 marking the end of The Boys, the reunion of Padalecki, Collins, and Ackles adds an emotional and nostalgic touch for fans of Supernatural.
As Kripke and the cast prepare to wrap up this explosive series, audiences eagerly anticipate how this final season will unfold.
