Aashiqui 3: Triptii Dimri’s Exit Sparks Casting Buzz as Filming Nears

Fans anticipating the on-screen reunion of Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri in Aashiqui 3 were surprised when director Anurag Basu confirmed that Dimri would not feature in the film.

The actress, who had undergone look tests and participated in the mahurat shot, was no longer part of the romantic franchise.

Speculations about her exit immediately surfaced, with some reports attributing the decision to her recent bold performances.

Rumors of Casting Decisions

Reports suggested that Triptii Dimri’s role in Animal, particularly her bold scenes with Ranbir Kapoor, influenced the makers’ decision.

The franchise, known for its emphasis on “purity in demeanor” for female leads, allegedly sought a different actor to meet its traditional requirements.

Sources claimed that Dimri’s recent roles did not align with the filmmakers’ vision for the innocence and simplicity the role demanded.

However, Anurag Basu denied these rumors. In an interview with Mid Day, he said, “That’s not true,” and added, “Triptii knows it too.” Despite this clarification, speculation about her departure persists.

Backlash Following Animal

Triptii Dimri gained widespread recognition for her role in Animal, but it wasn’t without controversy. The intimate scenes she performed drew harsh criticism from some viewers.

In a conversation on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Dimri shared how the backlash affected her emotionally.

“I cried a lot after Animal, for at least two-three days. I was not used to this at all. This happened all of a sudden, and I never expected I would have to face criticism of this magnitude,” she revealed, highlighting the toll of “nasty comments” on her mental health.

The Future of Aashiqui 3

While the rumors about Triptii’s departure made headlines, the production of Aashiqui 3 faces delays. The filmmakers are still searching for a new female lead, with filming now scheduled to begin later in January or early February.

The film, directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Bhushan Kumar, remains a highly anticipated project.

A source quoted by Zoom stated, “The fundamental requirement to be the heroine of Aashiqui 3 is innocence reflecting through, and as observed by the team, Triptii Dimri with her recent films has become too exposed to be cast in this romantic film.”

Despite these challenges, the production team remains optimistic about casting a suitable female lead to uphold the franchise’s legacy.

Dimri’s Upcoming Projects

After her departure from Aashiqui 3, Triptii Dimri has turned her focus to other exciting ventures.

She is currently working on Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara, a film that was initially supposed to star Kartik Aaryan but is now led by Shahid Kapoor.

This marks another significant collaboration for Kapoor and Bhardwaj, who previously worked together on Haider and Rangoon.

Dimri is also set to appear in Dhadak 2, opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film, directed by Shazia Iqbal, is backed by Dharma Productions.

Speaking about the project, Triptii expressed her excitement, describing the experience as “lovely” and the director as inspiring.

While the film was initially scheduled for a November 2024 release, it has been postponed, with the new release date yet to be announced.

Triptii Dimri’s Versatility and Challenges

Triptii Dimri has built a reputation for her diverse roles, from the horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to emotionally intense films like Animal. Despite facing backlash, she continues to push boundaries and showcase her range as an actor.

While her exit from Aashiqui 3 was unexpected, Dimri’s career trajectory remains promising. With projects like Arjun Ustara and Dhadak 2, she continues to cement her position as a versatile and talented performer in Bollywood.

The Aashiqui franchise, synonymous with soulful love stories, is a cornerstone of Bollywood romance. While production challenges and casting changes have temporarily stalled its progress, fans remain eager for the next installment.

Meanwhile, Anurag Basu’s upcoming romantic film with Kartik Aaryan offers another opportunity for audiences to experience the director’s storytelling brilliance.
