Army Jawan Allegedly Strangled to Death by Live-In Partner in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor

In a disturbing case from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district, an Army jawan was allegedly murdered by his live-in partner.

The incident occurred in Adarshnagar, located in the Najibabad region. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Mamta, in connection with the crime.

According to officials, 32-year-old Amit Sagar had been living with Mamta in a live-in relationship for the past three years. Circle Officer Nitesh Pratap Singh confirmed the nature of their relationship and the ongoing investigation.

Accused Cites Abuse as Motive

During police interrogation, Mamta claimed that Sagar frequently consumed alcohol and physically assaulted her.

She allegedly told the police that she wished to “free herself” from what she described as an abusive relationship, leading her to take the drastic step.

“On July 15, Amit was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died. A post-mortem examination confirmed that he died due to strangulation,” said the officer.

Following the post-mortem report, Sagar’s mother, Kanti Devi, lodged a formal complaint accusing Mamta of murder. Police subsequently arrested Mamta on Thursday.

Investigation and Legal Action

Police stated that a case has been registered in the matter. “The accused told police that Sagar would often assault her after consuming alcohol. She wanted to end the relationship and be free from him,” the officer added.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are gathering further evidence to ascertain the complete sequence of events that led to the jawan’s death.

In another tragic incident, a woman police officer was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner in Gujarat’s Kutch district.

The victim, Aruna Natu Jadav, was serving as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) at the Anjar Police Station under Kutch (East) Police’s Anjar Division.

The accused in this case, identified as CRPF constable Dilip Dangachhiya, reportedly surrendered at the same police station where Aruna worked. The incident came to light on July 18, a day after the crime was committed.

Dispute Turned Fatal

According to police reports cited by the media, the couple was at their home in Anjar when an argument broke out. The altercation reportedly escalated to a violent confrontation during which Dilip strangled Aruna to death.

The accused voluntarily approached the police the next day and confessed to the crime. Police have registered a case and taken him into custody for further interrogation.

Pattern of Domestic Violence in Live-In Relationships

Both cases underscore the increasing concern around violence within live-in relationships. In Bijnor, the accused claimed to be the victim of physical abuse, while in Kutch, the woman officer became the target of fatal aggression during a domestic dispute.

Police in both states have registered cases, and investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of each crime.

The incidents have drawn attention to the need for better support systems and conflict resolution mechanisms in non-marital partnerships, particularly when they turn violent.
