Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, leading the Indian delegation, also took to X to describe the engagement as an “excellent meeting” with Vice President Jagdeo at the Presidential Palace.

According to Tharoor, Jagdeo expressed “strong sympathy and understanding for India’s concerns in the wake of recent events.”

Their conversation extended beyond geopolitical issues, touching upon Guyana’s booming economy.

“Our conversation also spanned a range of topics relating to Guyana’s record-breaking 30% annual economic growth and development plans following the discovery of oil and gas,” Tharoor wrote.

Expanding Economic and Labour Cooperation

Tharoor noted that multiple opportunities were presented for Indian companies to participate in Guyana’s growth.

“A large number of opportunities for Indian companies were mentioned, in sectors ranging from agriculture to Telecoms, banking and highway development,” he said.
