The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi announced that Indian citizens can now enter the Philippines without a visa under two new categories, each with specific conditions.

Visa-Free Entry for Tourism Purposes

Indian nationals visiting the Philippines exclusively for tourism can avail of visa-free entry for up to 14 days.

This short-term entry cannot be converted into any other visa type and is non-extendable beyond the additional 7-day extension option, making a maximum possible stay of 21 days.

Entry is permitted through major international airports, secondary international airports, and seaports, including for cruise passengers.

This provision is only valid if the traveller holds a valid visa or permanent residency from countries in the AJACSSUK group—Australia, Japan, America (United States), Canada, Schengen countries, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

To qualify, travellers must carry:

1. A passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay

2. Proof of valid AJACSSUK visa or residence permit

3. A confirmed return or onward travel ticket

Additional Requirements for 14-Day Entry

Although the 14-day stay is visa-free, it comes with essential eligibility criteria. Indian citizens must meet the following conditions:

1. Visit must be strictly for tourism purposes

2. Passport validity of at least six months beyond stay

3. Confirmed accommodation, such as hotel bookings

4. Proof of sufficient funds for the trip, such as bank statements or employment certificates

5. A confirmed return ticket

6. No negative immigration history in the Philippines

These requirements are designed to streamline tourist entries while maintaining strict documentation protocols.

30-Day Visa-Free Entry for Specific Indian Travellers

A separate visa-free provision allows Indian citizens holding valid visas or permanent residency from AJACSSUK countries to stay in the Philippines for up to 30 days.

This facility caters especially to Indians living abroad or those with frequent international travel experience.

The same document requirements apply to this category as with the 14-day stay.

The 30-day visa-free stay is expected to ease travel for Indian nationals already engaged in global mobility and encourage them to explore the Philippines more extensively.

E-Visa Option Remains for Extended Travel

For Indian nationals who do not meet the eligibility for visa-free entry or intend to stay beyond the permitted period, the Philippine electronic visa (e-Visa) system remains available.

Introduced in India on October 28, 2024, this online system allows users to apply for the 9(a) Temporary Visitor’s Visa from the convenience of their homes via the 24/7 portal evisa.gov.ph.

The e-Visa covers short-term visits for tourism, business, medical treatment, and participation in meetings, conferences, training programs, or athletic events. It offers a 30-day single-entry stay.

Applicants must submit:

1. A passport with at least six months’ validity

2. A government-issued ID

3. Passport-sized photographs

4. Proof of accommodation

5. Return or onward travel ticket

6. Financial documents to demonstrate the ability to support the stay
