PM Modi Meets Vivek Ramaswamy During US Visit Ahead of Trump Talks

During his two-day visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in significant discussions with Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at the Blair House.

This meeting followed his interaction with tech billionaire Elon Musk. The visit comes ahead of Modi’s scheduled bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Vivek Ramaswamy’s Political Journey and Meeting with Modi

Vivek Ramaswamy initially entered the race for the White House but later withdrew. He gained widespread recognition for his strong debate performances before endorsing Donald Trump for the presidency.

Previously, Ramaswamy was appointed to co-head the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk but later stepped down.

However, he denied any disagreements with Musk, clarifying that his resignation was not due to any rift.

Following his meeting with PM Modi, Ramaswamy expressed admiration for the Prime Minister, calling him “thoughtful and deeply knowledgeable” on various subjects.

In a social media post on X, he shared, “Prime Minister Modi was thoughtful and deeply knowledgeable on a wide range of issues. It was an honor to meet & welcome him today. Wishing you a wonderful trip to the United States, Narendra Modi!”

Discussions on Innovation and Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Modi met Ramaswamy and his father-in-law at Blair House, where they discussed a range of topics, including innovation, culture, and India-US relations.

The meeting was attended by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and other officials.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the discussions between Modi and Ramaswamy revolved around India-US ties, innovation, biotechnology, and entrepreneurship’s role in shaping the future.

Jaiswal posted on X, “PM @narendramodi met with @VivekGRamaswamy at Blair House today. They had insightful discussions on India-U.S. ties, innovation, biotechnology, and the role of entrepreneurship in shaping the future.”

After the meeting, Ramaswamy reiterated his appreciation for PM Modi’s visit, stating, “It was a pleasure and honor to welcome Prime Minister Modi here. Hope he has a wonderful visit and it was a great meeting.”

Modi’s Engagement with Elon Musk

Following his meeting with Ramaswamy, Prime Minister Modi also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Musk’s children were present during the interaction at Blair House.

In visuals circulating online, they were seen listening attentively as Musk and Modi conversed.

PM Modi shared insights on the discussion, stating, “Had a very good meeting with Elon Musk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about such as space, mobility, technology, and innovation. I talked about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.’”

Musk also presented a gift to Modi, marking a significant moment in their exchange.

Ramaswamy’s Support for Trump and Political Career

Ramaswamy had previously been a contender in the US presidential race but ended his campaign to support Donald Trump, whom he had earlier described as the “best president of the 21st century.”

His role in the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), co-headed with Musk, ended with his resignation, reportedly due to differences with the Tesla CEO.

Modi’s Upcoming Meeting with Trump

Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with US President Donald Trump is scheduled for 2:30 am (IST) on February 14. This marks Modi’s first visit to the US since Trump assumed office for his second term.

Upon arrival, Modi was received by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, along with other officials.

Ahead of his visit, Modi expressed enthusiasm about strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

In his departure statement, he noted that this visit provides an opportunity to build on previous collaborations and develop a future agenda to elevate the bilateral relationship.
