J&K Pacer Yudhvir Singh Charak Makes Impactful Entry for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has consistently been a breeding ground for budding talent across India.

One of the names gaining attention this season is Jammu and Kashmir pacer Yudhvir Singh Charak, who stepped into the spotlight when he replaced Tushar Deshpande in Rajasthan Royals’ playing XI during their match against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur on Monday in IPL 2025.

Second Outing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025

This was Charak’s second appearance for Rajasthan Royals in this edition. He made his debut for the franchise earlier against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur, where he went wicketless.

Against Gujarat Titans, Charak came on as a first-change bowler but struggled to make an impact, conceding 38 runs in three overs without taking a wicket.

From Jammu to Hyderabad and Back

Born on September 13, 1997, in Roop Nagar, Jammu, Yudhvir completed his education at KC International Pestle Weed School.

Interestingly, although a native of Jammu, Charak made his first-class debut for Hyderabad in 2019 before returning to represent his home state.

A right-arm pacer known for his natural pace, he began shaping his skills in domestic Under-19 cricket, eventually climbing to the senior ranks.

Early IPL Exposure and Debut

Yudhvir’s journey with the IPL began in 2021 when he was signed as a net bowler by Mumbai Indians during their training in the UAE. Though he didn’t get match time, the experience proved vital.

He officially joined Mumbai Indians in 2021 but did not get a chance to debut and was later released before IPL 2023.

It was in IPL 2023 that he finally made his debut, representing Lucknow Super Giants. In his first match in the league, he made a solid impression by taking two wickets, marking a memorable start to his IPL career.

Rajasthan Royals’ ₹35 Lakh Signing

Ahead of IPL 2025, Rajasthan Royals picked up Yudhvir Singh Charak at the auction for ₹35 lakh.

This move not only marked a significant step forward in his career but also generated attention, especially since RR chose him over former Mumbai Indians player Akash Madhwal. This decision reflected the franchise’s belief in Charak’s potential.

Consistent Inclusion, Yet to Cement His Spot

Yudhvir’s overall IPL stats so far include seven matches across three seasons—three in 2023, two in 2024, and two in 2025—with four wickets to his name.

Though his bowling figures have not been headline-worthy in every outing, his ability with the ball and occasional contributions with the bat have kept him in the reckoning.

Despite limited opportunities in IPL 2025, the fact that Rajasthan Royals continue to field him in critical games speaks volumes about their trust in his abilities. While he hasn’t yet featured in every match, his presence in the squad remains significant.

The Breakthrough Moment: Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Charak’s rise to prominence began with his performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021, where his bowling turned heads and opened the door to higher-level opportunities.

His domestic form played a key role in setting the stage for his eventual IPL breakthrough.

A Roller-Coaster Ride, But Far From Over

Charak’s IPL career so far can best be described as a roller-coaster journey.

From being a net bowler with no playing time at Mumbai Indians to finally earning a debut with Lucknow Super Giants and now being in the Rajasthan Royals camp, he has seen both setbacks and breakthroughs.

His consistency and perseverance have earned him a valuable spot in one of the IPL’s most competitive teams.

RR Banking on His Potential

Though still establishing himself, Charak’s journey has been inspiring. Rajasthan Royals’ decision to keep him in the mix, despite stiff competition, shows they see him as a long-term asset.

As the tournament progresses, fans and analysts alike are keeping an eye on this young pacer from Jammu, expecting him to make the most of every opportunity and rise through the IPL ranks.
